Dr. Stephanie Silberman is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in child, adolescent, and family psychology. Dr. Silberman has a breadth of experience working with individuals who struggle with difficulties such as depression, anxiety, trauma, school problems, behavioral problems, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, adjustment to life stressors, suicidal ideation, and self injury. She is experienced in evidence-based approaches and utilizes cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and parent behavioral management strategies in her work with children and families. She also conducts psychological assessments to clarify diagnoses and to guide treatment.
Dr. Silberman received her Doctoral and Masters Degrees in Clinical Psychology at Kent State University. Most recently, Dr. Silberman worked as an assistant professor in the Psychiatry Department at Albany Medical Center, where she provided therapy and assessment to children, adolescents, and families. She also worked with individuals with chronic pain and medical conditions including patients at an Albany Medical Center primary care clinic.
Dr. Silberman completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute specializing in child and family therapy. Her pre-doctoral clinical internship focused on clinical child psychology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, where she obtained a wide range of experiences across mental health clinic, hospital, early childhood center, and primary care clinic settings.
Dr. Silberman is passionate about helping youth and families reach their goals. She works collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful patterns and utilize more helpful coping strategies, and she strives to create a safe space for all worldviews and backgrounds. At Birch Psychology, Dr. Silberman is pleased to provide clinical and assessment services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She works with children aged six and older, and can assist the parents of children younger than that.
