Korrie Allen, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist committed to working with children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Allen received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and her doctoral degree from St. John’s University. Prior to joining Birch Psychology, she directed the Educational Services Clinic at University of Denver, was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School and on the professional staff at Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters.  In addition to her formal education, Dr. Allen has pursued advanced training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy, school neuropsychology assessment, autism assessment, and rational emotive behavior therapy. Dr. Allen works with her clients to identify their strengths and challenges in order to implement sustainable interventions and set them on a positive path forward.

Dr. Allen is passionate about conducting comprehensive assessments that help clients find ways to achieve at their optimal potential. She provides evaluations such as early childhood/school readiness, autism spectrum disorder, school neuropsychological and ADHD, cognitive testing for school admissions, and social emotional skills. Her areas of expertise include attention deficit hyperactive disorder, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, memory and learning, school readiness, depression, and anxiety. She has experience evaluating for autism throughout the lifespan from early childhood to adulthood. She frequently works with individuals who have a complex or atypical presentation of autism. She believes that evaluations should help individuals understand themselves better and connect with the right supports and resources. 

In addition, Dr. Allen works clinically across the age-span with the individual and the systems to which they belong (e.g. family, partner, school, work). She uses evidence based integrative approaches including behavioral interventions, cognitive behavior therapy, parent child interaction therapy (PCIT), support parenting for anxious childhood emotions (SPACE), and solutions focused strategies to help clients enhance daily functioning and improve their quality of life. You don’t have to navigate this challenging time on your own.  Dr. Allen has successfully completed several research projects funded by agencies such as the Commonwealth Health Research Board, U.S. Department of Education, Governor’s Office of Substance Abuse Prevention, and the Society for School Psychology Research. She has been extensively involved in applied research that focuses on children with severe behavior problems. Her recent studies evaluated the impact of parent-child interaction training to address aggressive and oppositional behaviors among children with autism spectrum disorder.
